After close to 30 years of education and hundreds of thousands of dollars in student debt, on my first day of work as an orthodontist I found myself sitting on the floor in the bathroom at my first job in New York crying on the phone with my mom—I realized the system was broken.

I was raised by two first-generation healthcare providers who built the American dream by becoming doctors. I also saw how the medical system ran them ragged, leaving them worn and tired.

It’s not right that in a world with technology, orthodontists have insane amounts of debt, working conditions are poor and make it difficult to deliver high quality care, and large marketing companies have falsely persuaded the masses that orthodontists aren’t needed with clear aligners—yet 1 in 2 people in the world need our services.

When I started residency in 2015 and learned how orthodontics worked, I realized that with the birth of mail-order aligner companies, we were going to need a new way to practice to meet new consumer expectations. That day at my first job in New York was July 1st 2018, and it was at that moment I promised that I would do everything in my power to fight for providers to live out the American dream. Almost 5 years later, we’ve created the first virtual orthodontic platform, where you can practice from anywhere.

We have a long way to go, and when I started this journey I had no idea it was going to be as hard as it has been, but 5 years later what I do know is we have something special. Through our platform, we can empower providers who are committed to the highest quality care and don’t need to sacrifice their well-being, both financially & emotionally, to serve our patients.
