What are aligners?

Aligners are an alternative to traditional braces. They are custom-built to slip over your teeth and gradually guide them into the right position for a perfectly curated smile. Aligners are designed to gently shift your teeth into place over time.

How do aligners get designed for my mouth?

At your consultation appointment, you will have a 3D scan taken. From this, your orthodontist will create a prescription that is specific to your smile and dental health needs.

When will my aligners arrive?

After your scan has been completed and your prescription has been sent, aligners will arrive at your dentist’s office for application in 4-8 weeks. Each aligner is custom designed and the time allotted is for detailed manufacturing and quality control.

What is a set of aligners?

A set is 2 aligners: top and bottom. Every 1-2 weeks, as directed by your orthodontist, you will switch to a new set of aligners.

When do I wear my aligners?

Aligners should be worn 20-22 hours a day. This means you’ll take them off for meals and cleaning, but they should be worn as often as possible to ensure they’re moving on schedule.

How do I clean my aligners?

Brush and rinse your aligners in warm water morning and night! Use a soft-bristled toothbrush and a gentle, clear liquid soap to get rid of anything that may have accumulated throughout the day. Additionally, you can and should soak your aligners with Invisalign crystals or an alternate clear retainer cleaner to remove any build-up.

What do I do if my aligner breaks?

Let us know immediately if this happens! Contact us at carespecialist@mytwofront.com with details of which aligner has been damaged and we’ll get a replacement ordered ASAP.

How long does treatment take?

Depending on the complexity of your case, which you’ll discuss with your orthodontist, treatment times will vary. The simplest treatments can take 4 months, while more complex treatments can take closer to 2 years. You’ll start seeing results within the first few weeks of using your aligners.
